About the Role: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Specialist

As a Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Specialist at Google Cloud, you’ll own the technical relationship with customers from solution design through to deployment. You’ll be responsible for proposing cloud networking solution architectures, managing implementations according to best practices, and working hands-on with customers to design cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimisations that drive measurable business results.

Collaboration is central to this position. You’ll work closely with internal specialists, product teams, and engineering groups to package learnings into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets. You’ll also interface regularly with sales teams, partners, and customer technical stakeholders to keep projects on track — managing scope, priorities, deliverables, risks, and timelines throughout each engagement. Travel of up to 30% may be required for client engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Propose and architect cloud networking solution architectures tailored to customer requirements and implementation best practices
  • Design and implement cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimisations that enable customer business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package approaches, best practices, and lessons learned into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets
  • Manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks, issues, and timelines by interacting with sales, partners, and customer technical stakeholders
  • Travel up to 30% of the time as required for client engagements

Requirements / Skills

Google is looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in cloud infrastructure, networking, and project delivery who can operate effectively in both technical and customer-facing contexts. The ideal person brings deep hands-on experience with cloud solutions and virtualized environments, paired with the communication skills to lead complex client engagements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience in networking, compute infrastructure (e.g., servers, databases, firewalls, load balancers), and architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments
  • 6 years of experience in project management and technical solution delivery
  • Coding proficiency in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++), including data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Experience with third-party networking products such as PANW, Fortinet, or VMware Cloud Foundation (preferred)
  • Scalable networking design experience including high availability, redundancy, failover, and load balancing (preferred)
  • Troubleshooting experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTPS, and BGP (preferred)
  • Customer-facing migration experience, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations (preferred)
  • Knowledge of containerisation and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, and certificate and key management (preferred)
