About the Role: Cashier Assistant
As a Cashier Assistant, you’ll work directly at the front end of the warehouse, supporting cashiers during transactions and promotions. Your role is essential to keeping checkout lines efficient and members satisfied.
Beyond the checkout lane, you’ll be responsible for cart retrieval from the parking lot, maintaining the cleanliness of the register and front-end area, and performing set-up and closing duties for the department. You’ll also operate a mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer, and may assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed. Responsibilities
The Cashier Assistant role keeps the front end of the warehouse running smoothly. You’ll be in constant motion — supporting cashiers, serving members, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the checkout area. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll be doing on a typical shift:
- Greet members and assist them in loading their orders onto the conveyor belt, determining packing preferences, and answering questions about promotions
- Pack member orders into boxes and load them onto separate carts or flatbeds, checking packaging for tampering
- Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
- Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them, following proper departmental procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front-end area, immediately addressing spills and trip hazards
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area using a rope with a clasping hook, pushing no more than 8 carts at a time, and keeping the lot free of debris
- Perform set-up and closing duties including returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning the area
- Operate mechanical equipment such as the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
- Support cashiers during various in-warehouse promotions
