About the Role: Area Manager II
As an Area Manager II at an Amazon fulfillment centre in Cambridge, you’ll act as a strategic operational leader. You’ll facilitate planning sessions, diagnose performance gaps using advanced analytics, and partner with teams in Quality, HR, Safety, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to develop and execute plans that meet business objectives. This position also requires physical presence on the floor — you’ll be standing or walking for up to 12 hours per shift, working in variable temperature environments, and occasionally lifting up to 49 pounds. Shifts can include weekends, nights, and holidays, so flexibility is a must. Benefits and Salary
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities
As an Area Manager II, your day-to-day responsibilities span leadership, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to build plans that hit business targets
- Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics and implement scalable process improvements
- Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals and strategic priorities
- Make data-driven decisions that balance competing priorities across multiple workflows
- Conduct planning sessions and coach associates through day-to-day operational challenges while building their leadership skills
- Maintain physical presence on the floor, including standing/walking up to 12 hours, lifting up to 49 lbs, and working in variable temperature environments
Requirements / Skills
Amazon is looking for a candidate who combines people leadership experience with a strong analytical mindset and a genuine commitment to operational excellence. The ideal applicant brings a track record of managing large teams in complex, high-throughput environments and is comfortable working flexible schedules.
- 2+ years of employee and performance management experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon blue badge/FTE experience
- Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and holidays as required
- 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques (preferred)
- Experience managing large teams of 50+ members (preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen process improvement experience is a strong asset
- Background in logistics, distribution, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, or hospitality is considered a plus
