This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for your team’s safety, quality, productivity, and attendance on shift while also thinking strategically about department-level goals. You’ll partner cross-functionally with HR, Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, and Quality Assurance to solve problems, implement scalable process improvements, and ultimately ensure that millions of customer orders are delivered on time to the right place.

About the Role: Area Manager II

As an Area Manager II, you’ll lead daily operations within Amazon’s three-part fulfillment workflow: first mile (product storage and order readiness), middle mile (order transportation to your area), and last mile (delivery to the customer’s door). You’ll conduct planning sessions with your team, coach associates through operational challenges, and develop their leadership capabilities along the way.

A big part of this role involves data-driven decision-making. You’ll diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics, facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department goals, and balance competing priorities — all while keeping safety and customer experience at the forefront. The physical demands of the role are real as well: you’ll be on your feet for up to 12 hours per shift, working in a variable-temperature environment that may include outdoor loading areas.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary for this Area Manager II role ranges from $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and access to other health and well-being resources.

Responsibilities

As an Area Manager II at the Bolton fulfillment centre, your day-to-day will be a mix of frontline leadership and strategic planning. Requirements / Skills

  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience — you know how to motivate a team and hold them accountable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience in lieu of a degree
  • Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and holidays is required
  • 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques (preferred)
  • Experience managing large teams of 50+ members is a strong asset
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen knowledge is preferred
  • Background in logistics, distribution, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, healthcare, or a customer-facing environment is an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization
