About the Role: AI/ML Architect, Public Sector Professional Services

As a Senior AI/ML Consultant within AWS Professional Services, you’ll serve as a trusted technical advisor to public sector clients. Your role spans the full project lifecycle — from initial requirements gathering and exploratory data analysis, right through to model validation, deployment, and client training. You’ll be expected to understand not just the technical side of things, but the business rationale behind each solution you build.

Collaboration is at the heart of this position. Responsibilities

This role requires you to wear many hats — part consultant, part architect, part hands-on ML practitioner. You’ll be guiding Canadian public sector organizations through the full arc of AI/ML and GenAI project delivery, ensuring solutions are technically sound, business-aligned, and production-ready.

  • Understand and structure customer business challenges, formalizing them as clear technical and business requirements
  • Select and recommend the most appropriate AI/ML services and algorithms to meet client objectives, collaborating with specialists across related technical domains
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of ML and GenAI projects, from exploratory data analysis through to model validation, deployment, and client training
  • Design and validate ML and GenAI architectures that integrate relevant AWS services to achieve client goals
  • Collaborate closely with ML Engineers, Cloud Architects, and Application Developers to bring solutions to a production-ready state
  • Utilize a broad range of tools including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon AgentCore, Git, Docker, PyTorch, Transformers, and Strands-Agents
  • Provide technical sales support and act as a trusted advisor to client teams throughout the engagement lifecycle

Requirements / Skills

AWS is looking for a candidate who brings both deep ML/GenAI technical expertise and the interpersonal savvy to engage effectively with clients — from frontline engineers to senior executives.   • 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer, with hands-on experience building ML models and GenAI systems
  • Experience with AWS or cloud technologies is required
  • Ability to obtain Canadian federal security clearance (Secret or Top Secret level) — mandatory for public sector work
  • Fluency in both French and English is required for candidates applying to the Quebec location, due to cross-provincial and global interactions
  • Experience consulting with customers on their AI and GenAI needs, including working with executive stakeholders
  • MLOps experience including building and maintaining ML pipelines, bringing models to production, and managing data science environments
  • Knowledge of data governance, data consumption, visualization, and reporting practices is an asset
  • Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modelling, with the ability to determine cause and effect relationships accurately
