About the Role: Sr. BI & Insights Analyst

Responsibilities

As a Senior BI & Insights Analyst at Canadian Tire, your work will span data engineering, model development, and business-facing reporting. You’ll be expected to deliver insights that directly shape marketing strategy and merchandising decisions, while keeping a close eye on data quality, pipeline performance, and analytical accuracy.

  • Deliver dashboards and reports in support of Canadian Tire’s True North strategy, using Power BI and other BI tools
  • Assist with data pipeline development using Azure Synapse Analytics and SQL Server, including sourcing, transforming, and loading data into BI environments
  • Extract, manipulate, and interpret data to identify key trends, summarizing findings into concise reports and presentations for business stakeholders
  • Design, automate, and maintain BI data models and reports, continuously enhancing their performance and relevance
  • Develop analytical models from various data sources, interpreting statistical outputs to generate business value

Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a analytically minded professional with a strong background in BI development and data warehousing. The ideal candidate brings both technical proficiency with tools like Power BI and Azure Synapse and the communication skills needed to translate complex data into meaningful business insights.

  • University degree in a quantitative discipline; a master’s degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in BI development, data warehousing, and analytical queries using Power BI
  • Working knowledge of SQL (or PySpark) for data extraction and manipulation
  • Experience with data modelling techniques including dimensional modelling and star/snowflake schemas
  • Power BI / DAX proficiency; MS Power BI Data Analyst Associate Certification is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Azure Synapse (or Microsoft Fabric); MS Fabric Analytics / Data Engineer Certification is a strong asset
  • Digital / Web Analytics experience is considered an asset
