Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Workday Integration Developer at Canadian Tire is hands-on and technically demanding. You’ll be responsible for the full integration lifecycle — from gathering requirements and writing design specs, to building, testing, deploying, and supporting integrations in a live production environment. These integrations underpin critical HR data flows across the entire corporation, making accuracy, reliability, and security non-negotiable priorities.
- Design and build inbound and outbound Workday integrations supporting HR, payroll, benefits, time and absence, workforce management, security, reporting, and vendor data flows
- Develop integrations using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Report-as-a-Service (RaaS), custom reports, calculated fields, Document Transformation, and Workday Web Services
- Translate requirements into technical integration designs, data mappings, transformation logic, test plans, deployment plans, and support documentation
- Provide production support for scheduled and event-driven integrations, including monitoring, alert review, incident triage, error analysis, file delivery validation, and stakeholder communication
- Troubleshoot integration failures, data discrepancies, authentication issues, file transmission errors, and vendor-reported defects; perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes
- Implement secure data exchange patterns, including integration system users, domain security, security groups, PGP encryption, SFTP, web services, certificates, and least-privilege access principles
- Create and maintain integration design documents, mapping specifications, runbooks, support procedures, test evidence, issue logs, release notes, and knowledge base content
- Support Workday release readiness by assessing release notes, coordinating regression testing, validating impacted integrations, and resolving release-related defects
- Participate in change, incident, problem, audit, privacy, and production deployment activities in alignment with CTC governance and operational standards
Requirements / Skills
This role is best suited to a technically grounded developer who has real production experience with Workday integrations and a solid grasp of enterprise IT practices. Canadian Tire values candidates who can work independently on complex technical problems while also communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders across HR and the business. Attention to data quality, privacy, and compliance is essential given the sensitive nature of the employee information involved.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience developing, enhancing, testing, deploying, and supporting Workday integrations in a production HR technology environment
- Practical experience with Workday integration tools such as EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, RaaS, custom reports, calculated fields, Document Transformation, and Workday Web Services
- Strong understanding of integration technologies including XML, XSLT, XPath, SOAP, REST, JSON, SFTP, PGP encryption, authentication, certificates, scheduling, logging, and error handling
- Experience with Workday HCM functional areas such as Core HCM, Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, Recruiting, Learning, Workday Scheduling, payroll processes, or Workforce Management
- Understanding of Workday security concepts, including integration system users, security groups, domain security policies, business process security, and role-based access controls
- Experience working within formal IT practices, including incident, change, release, testing, audit support, and operational documentation
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into support procedures, stakeholder updates, and knowledge base materials
- Experience in a large Canadian enterprise, retail, or multi-banner environment is considered an asset; knowledge of Dayforce and Workday Pro certifications are also assets
