About the Role: Solutions Architect, Public Sector Financial Services

As a trusted advisor to customers, you’ll help organizations navigate the Canadian Government cloud computing landscape, including application modernization initiatives and stringent security requirements. You’ll represent AWS directly within customer environments, presenting cloud concepts and architectures to both technical and non-technical audiences — from front-line engineers to executive stakeholders. The ability to think strategically about business challenges while also diving deep on technical architecture is central to this role.

Collaboration is at the core of this position. You’ll work alongside business development and sales teams as part of the larger AWS Worldwide Public Sector group, advocating for customers internally by surfacing requests for new features and capabilities. Benefits and Salary

This position offers a base salary range of $115,100 to $166,900 CAD annually for the Toronto location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities

Solutions Architects at AWS are embedded within the sales organization, regularly engaging with customers to understand their business and technical challenges. Your work shapes how public sector financial services organizations adopt and advance cloud computing, making each responsibility both technically meaningful and strategically impactful.

  • Design and deliver advanced cloud computing architectures tailored to public sector financial services customers
  • Partner with customers, sales, and technical teams to craft flexible, resilient solutions that address mission-critical challenges
  • Advance the sales cycle by clearly explaining AWS services and solutions to customer stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Advocate on behalf of customers internally, surfacing requests for new AWS features and capabilities
  • Present cloud concepts and architectures to diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to broaden AWS adoption across customer organizations
  • Dedicate time to learning and experimentation with the latest AWS technologies to remain a credible technical thought leader
  • Lead discussions at all levels of customer organizations, working backwards from customer requirements to develop appropriate solutions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in cloud computing combined with strong customer-facing communication skills. AWS values professionals who can bridge the gap between complex infrastructure decisions and tangible business outcomes, especially within regulated public sector environments.

  • 5+ years of experience in IT development, implementation, or consulting within software or internet industries
  • 4+ years of domain experience in areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics
  • 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructure
  • Understanding of the Canadian Government cloud landscape, including application modernization and security requirements — strongly preferred
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy solutions to the cloud is a significant asset
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective is preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences confidently
