About the Role: Senior Solutions Architect, ISV Canada
As a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS Canada, your core mandate is to help Independent Software Vendors architect solutions that solve their most complex business and technology challenges. You’ll engage with senior customer stakeholders to understand their industry context, influence their long-term technology direction, and translate that strategic understanding into concrete, scalable cloud solutions. This includes everything from migration and modernization strategies to cutting-edge AI/ML and generative AI architectures.
Beyond individual customer engagements, you’ll play a key organizational role — building consensus across internal and cross-functional AWS teams, advocating for customer needs with AWS product and service teams, and creating thought leadership content that elevates the broader community. Collaboration, technical credibility, and strategic influence are at the heart of this position.
Benefits and Salary
The base salary for this Senior Solutions Architect role in Toronto is $146,000 to $211,600 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities
In this senior-level role, your responsibilities span technical architecture, strategic customer engagement, and organizational leadership. You’ll be expected to balance deep hands-on technical work with high-level advisory conversations — building trust with both engineers and executives. Each responsibility directly contributes to accelerating cloud adoption and driving measurable business outcomes for AWS Canada’s ISV customers.
- Architect extensible, reusable, and operationally excellent cloud solutions to address complex migration, modernization, and innovation challenges
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior customer leaders, understanding their industry context and business objectives to influence long-term technology strategy
- Provide technical leadership across internal and cross-functional teams, building consensus on architectural approaches and negotiating trade-offs to drive business impact
- Develop and deliver technical content including workshops, prototypes, and presentations, and speak at events to help customers evaluate and adopt new technologies
- Advocate for customers by identifying product gaps and feature requests, working with AWS service teams to ensure customer needs are understood and addressed
- Create reusable assets such as reference architectures, frameworks, and automation tools that other Solutions Architects can leverage across the organization
- Mentor teammates on solving complex problems and navigating technical and strategic ambiguity with confidence
Requirements / Skills
This role is best suited to someone who has a strong foundation in cloud architecture and software development, combined with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. AWS is looking for candidates who can operate across multiple technical domains and thrive in environments where strategic thinking and hands-on delivery go hand in hand.
- 5+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructure
- Deep technical expertise across multiple domains including cloud architecture, data and analytics, AI/ML, software development, security, and networking
- Familiarity with modern architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems, with the ability to adapt them for customer-specific needs
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), including designing and deploying complex production workloads at scale (preferred)
- Experience with AI/ML solutions, including generative AI, agentic applications, MLOps patterns, and RAG architectures (preferred)
- Scripting and software development proficiency in multiple languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred)
