About the Role: Senior Forecasting Analytics Consultant
The Forecasting and Inventory Support team has an ambitious goal: to make Canadian Tire the top forecasting retailer in the world. As a Senior Forecasting Analytics Consultant, you’ll develop predictive models integrated into key merchandising decisions, from assortment selection and pricing strategy to product forecasting and replenishment. You’ll apply both traditional and machine learning analytics to identify cause-and-effect relationships and design reporting tools that are genuinely usable by Forecast Analysts and business teams.
This role also carries a leadership dimension. You’ll mentor and coach team members in advanced analytics, act as a subject matter expert for forecasting processes, and collaborate closely with Category Business Management, Forecasting, Replenishment, Allocations, Promotions, and IT teams. Responsibilities
Day to day, this role spans a wide range of analytical and collaborative work. You’ll be building models, supporting business teams, managing projects, and coaching colleagues — all in service of improving forecast accuracy and inventory performance across one of Canada’s largest retail networks.
- Develop predictive and statistical models to identify sales drivers, conduct what-if scenario analysis, and measure causal impacts on business outcomes
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Forecasting, and Promotions teams to ensure model outputs are explainable, consistent with business expertise, and integrated efficiently into workflows
- Design and build user-friendly tools and reports that are actionable and accessible for Forecast Analysts and business stakeholders
- Plan, track, and manage multiple concurrent projects, ranging from long-term implementations and process improvements to urgent system support and quick ad-hoc requests
- Proactively identify opportunities and deliver data-supported insights to Merchandising and Forecasting teams to improve forecast accuracy and key business decisions
- Provide leadership and coaching to team members in advanced analytics methodologies and best practices
- Ensure forecasting systems, reports, and EUC tools remain operational, and lead projects to implement new functionality including automation
- Act as subject matter expert for forecasting processes and contribute expertise to special projects across the organization
Requirements / Skills
Canadian Tire is looking for a seasoned analytics professional who brings both technical depth and business acumen to the table. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with data science and machine learning in a retail or supply chain context, and can communicate complex insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- 4+ years of experience in forecasting, analytics, merchandising, or supply chain roles
- University degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, business, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python, Spark, and SQL; knowledge of R and VBA is an asset
- Direct experience with data science and machine learning models, including productionizing and implementing projects at scale
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Power BI, Access, Excel, and database systems
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure and Databricks is considered an asset
- Familiarity with generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) applied to analytics and reporting workflows is an asset
- Strong project and time management skills with a results-oriented mindset and ability to manage competing priorities
