About the Role: Senior Financial Analyst, Inventory Accounting
In this position, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that financial results comply with IFRS standards while delivering accurate, timely reports and analysis to management each month. You’ll prepare and review significant journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses tied to enterprise inventory, shrink, and obsolescence provisions. When variances emerge or business trends shift, you’ll be the one launching investigations and presenting findings to senior leadership.
Beyond the numbers, this role calls for someone who can build and maintain relationships across Finance and Business groups, manage communications with internal and external auditors, and contribute to the growth of teammates through coaching and mentorship. You’ll juggle multiple projects simultaneously, all while maintaining strong documentation of controls and delivering results with minimal supervision.
Benefits and Salary
The broadband salary range for this role is $64,000 to $106,000 per annum, with a typical hiring range of $64,000 to $85,000. Final compensation depends on your experience, market benchmarks, internal equity, and role-specific factors. Responsibilities
This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting and strategic business partnership. You’ll be expected to lead complex financial analyses, support audit processes, and drive continuous improvement — all while keeping a close eye on compliance and accuracy within a fast-moving retail environment.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and deliver accurate, timely monthly reports and analysis to management
- Prepare and review significant analyses, journal entries, and reconciliations related to enterprise inventory, shrink, and obsolescence provisions
- Investigate and present significant variances, key metrics, and business trends to managers and senior leadership
- Analyze and implement the financial impact of business contracts, regulatory updates, and accounting changes on processes and controls
- Identify and execute improvements to complex financial models and processes
- Manage communications and relationships with business partners, accounting teams, and internal/external auditors
- Execute and document controls in accordance with established standards
- Coach and support the professional development of fellow team members
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and independently with minimal supervision
Requirements / Skills
Canadian Tire is looking for a CPA-designated professional who brings both technical depth and strong interpersonal skills to the table. - CPA designation is required (or equivalent professional accounting credential)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a medium to large organization with strong IFRS knowledge and exposure to complex accounting models
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to see the big picture in a complex business environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build lasting relationships across stakeholder groups
- Experience or interest in AI tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Familiarity with internal and external audit processes and control documentation
- Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is considered an asset
- Proven leadership ability to guide and develop other team members
