About the Role: Senior Developer Relations Engineer, AI Data Cloud
The core mission of this team is to drive awareness and adoption of Google Cloud’s Data and Analytics platform. Day to day, that means producing technical content like blogs, demos, and code samples, leading hands-on workshops, and building relationships with engineering communities and partner teams. You’ll be the bridge between what developers need and what Google’s product teams build — a voice internally for external users.
Beyond content creation, you’ll engage directly with cross-functional product and engineering teams to review APIs, test new features, and help refine the developer experience. Your ability to influence without authority will be essential as you represent community feedback and advocate for improvements across multiple stakeholder groups.

Benefits and Salary
For the Canadian location, the salary range is $170,000 – $174,000 CAD, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Google’s benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement savings with company match, generous paid vacation (20 days per year), sick time, and substantial parental leave options including up to 18 weeks of baby bonding leave. Thirteen paid holidays round out the package. Individual compensation is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Responsibilities
This role blends technical advocacy, content creation, and strategic community engagement. You’ll be expected to move fluidly between writing code and presenting at conferences, between gathering developer feedback and briefing internal product managers. Here’s what the work actually looks like:
- Advocate for Google Cloud data and analytics products to foster developer adoption and success across the community
- Create technical assets including demos, code samples, documentation, and blog posts to boost developer awareness
- Develop and lead technical workshops that enable practitioners to build and operationalize cloud analytics solutions
- Engage third-party communities and engineering teams to drive developer momentum and gather key product feedback
- Represent community needs internally to influence Google Cloud product strategy with cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to review API designs and test new features ahead of release
- Troubleshoot and debug coding problems through developer forums and support queues
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for someone who combines genuine technical depth with the communication skills to connect with developer communities effectively. The ideal candidate brings hands-on engineering experience alongside a passion for teaching and enabling others through technology. Here’s what’s required and preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in a technical role such as software engineering or solutions consulting
- 2+ years of experience working with software and data engineering concepts and frameworks
- 1+ year of experience working with current AI and Agentic frameworks (e.g., MCP)
- Experience with cloud or on-premise data technologies is an asset
- Customer-facing experience — working directly with customers, partners, or third-party developers is preferred
- Ability to exert influence without authority and take full ownership of solutions
