About the Role: Senior Data Scientist, Advanced Analytics and Modelling
In this position, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing advanced quantitative and statistical models using retail, customer, and loyalty data. You’ll scope and structure data science projects, build Machine Learning and Deep Learning models that adapt to evolving datasets, and establish data pipelines to bring AI/ML solutions into production. The insights and solutions you deliver will directly support Canadian Tire’s True North strategy.
You’ll also be expected to communicate your findings clearly — translating complex technical and analytical concepts for business partners at various levels. Collaboration is central to this role, as you’ll contribute actively to both the Advanced Analytics team and the broader analytics community at CTC.

The typical hiring range for this position is $32.82 to $54.34 per hour, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and market conditions. Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Scientist, your day-to-day will span the full lifecycle of data science project delivery — from exploratory analysis and model development through to deployment and stakeholder communication. The work is high-impact, requiring both deep technical rigour and the ability to keep business outcomes front and centre.
- Develop and implement advanced quantitative and statistical models on retail, customer, and loyalty data to support strategic business objectives
- Build and deploy Machine Learning and Deep Learning models designed to adapt to continuously evolving datasets and problem sets
- Scope and structure data science projects with consideration for both business needs and technical constraints
- Perform advanced analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that inform critical business decisions
- Establish data pipelines necessary to deploy AI/ML solutions into production environments
- Apply optimization methods including Linear Programming and Mixed Integer Programming using tools such as Gurobi, Hexaly, or Simplex
- Provide recommendations and creative analytical solutions that bridge business strategy and modelling concepts
- Contribute actively to the Advanced Analytics and Modelling team and the broader CTC analytics community
Requirements / Skills
This role is designed for a seasoned data scientist with a strong foundation in statistics, optimization, and machine learning — someone who’s comfortable working with large-scale retail data and communicating insights to non-technical audiences. Canadian Tire values candidates who can balance technical depth with practical business thinking.
- Graduate degree (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
- 3+ years of experience developing and implementing data science solutions for retail businesses or loyalty programs
- Advanced Python proficiency as a core analytical and programming tool
- 3+ years querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL, Spark, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with optimization methods including Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, and tools such as Gurobi, Hexaly, and Simplex
- Experience with cloud-based data environments; familiarity with Databricks and Azure Synapse is an asset
- Strong communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to present complex models clearly to both technical and business audiences
- 3+ years interpreting and synthesizing complex models and presenting findings to business stakeholders
