About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

As an on-call relief carrier with Canada Post, your main responsibility is ensuring that mail and parcels reach customers safely and on time. You’ll be sorting and delivering items across rural routes, developing strong knowledge of local roads and delivery points, and handling a variety of Canada Post products and services throughout your shift.

This role also involves physical activity — you’ll be lifting and carrying items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) — and requires consistent adherence to safety standards and Canada Post’s code of conduct. You’ll represent Canada Post directly to the public, which means professional conduct and proper identification are part of the job every day.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across rural and suburban routes
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Secure all mail in your possession throughout your delivery route
• Process Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification and ensure it remains visible during deliveries and customer interactions
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as needed throughout the shift
• Operate a motor vehicle in all types of weather and traffic conditions safely and professionally

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is a reliable, safety-conscious driver who is comfortable working independently and adapting to the demands of rural delivery routes. Canada Post values candidates who embody trust, respect, and a commitment to delivering for others.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G is required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required upon selection
• Personal vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum 50 cu ft (1,415 L) cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, and passenger window sill height between 38″ and 45″ from the ground
• Automobile liability insurance — must be maintained and insurer notified of vehicle use for Canada Post
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Residency within 75 km of the Kincardine Post Office is preferred
