Responsibilities
Day-to-day work as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier involves much more than simply dropping off letters. You’ll be managing mail sorting, deliveries, and customer interactions while representing Canada Post professionally in the communities you serve. Staying organized, punctual, and safety-conscious is key to success in this role.
- Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner across assigned routes
- Build and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in the area
- Secure all mail properly while in your possession to prevent loss or damage
- Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
- Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times while delivering and collecting mail
- Lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as part of regular delivery duties
- Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions throughout your shift
Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is looking for someone who is reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently on the road. - Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
- Satisfactory safe driving record — a driver’s abstract will be required
- Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied conditions
- Access to a qualifying vehicle with a minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and specific window sill height requirements
