Package Handler Trainer – FedEx – Toronto, ON

FedEx is looking for a Package Handler Trainer to join their facility operations team at their Toronto, Ontario location on Commissioners Street. This part-time role is ideal for experienced package handlers ready to step into a training capacity and help others develop safe, efficient freight-handling techniques.

Beyond the standard loading and unloading duties, this role puts you in a position to train fellow Package Handlers on proper palletizing, scanning, and sorting methods — helping to keep FedEx’s operations running smoothly and safely every shift.

About the Role: Package Handler Trainer

As a Package Handler Trainer at FedEx Canada, you’ll be responsible for both hands-on freight handling and mentoring newer team members. You’ll load and unload freight, perform scanning and sorting tasks, and transport packages within and between facilities — all while guiding others through the same processes.

This position requires a strong understanding of FedEx Canada operations, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to communicate techniques clearly to colleagues. You’ll work the AM Sort shift, Sunday through Thursday, contributing to a structured and high-volume logistics environment.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day work in this role blends physical freight handling with active on-the-job training. You’ll be on the floor working alongside Package Handlers, demonstrating best practices and ensuring packages move efficiently and safely through the operation.

• Load and unload freight accurately and efficiently during each shift
• Scan and sort packages according to FedEx procedures to ensure proper routing
• Train Package Handlers on loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques
• Transport freight within and between facilities using appropriate equipment
• Manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs using proper equipment and safety practices
• Uphold compliance with FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations
• Demonstrate safe, effective work habits that new handlers can follow and replicate

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings at least six months of experience as a Package Handler and is comfortable stepping into a mentorship role. Strong interpersonal skills and physical capability are both essential here — you’ll be working hands-on while actively guiding others.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
• Six (6) months of experience as a Package Handler (preferred)
• Familiarity with FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations (preferred)
• Good interpersonal skills for effective on-floor training and communication
• Ability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
• Valid Class G driver’s licence with a good driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
