Tesla is looking for a Robotics Technical Project Manager, Actuator, Optimus Manufacturing to join its team in Langley, British Columbia. This is a technically demanding role at the intersection of advanced robotics, actuator manufacturing, and cross-functional project leadership — an opportunity to work directly on in-house manufacturing capabilities for Tesla’s Optimus robot program.

In this position, you’ll be embedded across engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to shepherd actuator manufacturing projects from early process development all the way through to full production line implementation. Day-to-day, that means juggling multiple workstreams, aligning global teams, and making sure quality, cost, and schedule targets are consistently met.

This role centres on end-to-end project management for actuator manufacturing — from initial process development through to manufacturing line implementation. You’ll develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans while coordinating with cross-functional teams across multiple continents to keep high-impact changes on track. A major part of the job involves prioritizing activities at Tesla’s R&D facility, balancing process development activities and technology down-selection prototypes against constrained resources.

You’ll also serve as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and suppliers, managing documentation, validation, and production readiness reviews. Championing continuous improvement across manufacturing and project execution is central to this position, and you’ll be expected to drive design-for-manufacturability improvements alongside sourcing, tooling, and supplier qualification for actuator components.

Benefits and Salary

Tesla offers a competitive total compensation package for this role, with an expected annual salary of $80,960 – $191,400, plus cash and stock awards. Responsibilities

This role demands active involvement across the full manufacturing project lifecycle, from process development through production ramp-up. You’ll coordinate globally, manage technical documentation, and track performance metrics to keep projects on schedule and on budget — all while ensuring cross-functional alignment across engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams.

• Lead end-to-end project management for actuator manufacturing, from process development to manufacturing line implementation
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams on multiple continents to prioritize and manage high-impact changes and drive improvements to all relevant project schedules
• Drive design-for-manufacturability and process capability improvements
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between internal teams and suppliers
• Manage technical documentation, validation, and production readiness reviews
• Track and report project status using KPIs and performance metrics
• Support sourcing, tooling, and supplier qualification for actuator components
• Coordinate production ramp-up efforts, including process validation and operator training
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and project execution

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for a candidate who combines solid mechanical engineering knowledge with proven project management experience in a manufacturing context. You should be highly organized, technically precise, and comfortable driving alignment across a global, interdisciplinary team.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
• 3+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for high-volume manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machining, assembly, and testing processes
• Proactive, highly organized, and detail oriented, with strong technical communication ability to drive improvements across a global interdisciplinary team
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Jira
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities with a results-driven mindset
