Responsibilities

The Registered Pharmacy Technician at Costco plays an essential role in keeping the pharmacy running smoothly and efficiently. From direct patient interaction to behind-the-scenes prescription processing and inventory control, this position covers a broad range of tasks that support both the pharmacist and the membership.

  • Assist patients at the pharmacy counter, receive written prescriptions, and retrieve filled prescriptions for pickup
  • Process register transactions, accept payment, make change, and handle credit, debit, and cheque transactions
  • Maintain patient records by obtaining medical histories and entering prescription data into the pharmacy system in accordance with provincial regulations
  • Fill prescriptions by selecting stock bottles, counting medications, and labelling and pricing under the pharmacist’s supervision
  • Complete packaging verification for prescriptions previously assessed for therapeutic appropriateness by the pharmacist
  • Alert the pharmacist to potential drug interactions in both prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using the computerized system
  • Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and OTC products; maintain department cleanliness and merchandising standards
  • Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone and take verbal prescriptions as permitted by provincial regulations

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for a licensed Pharmacy Technician who brings both technical knowledge and strong member service skills to the role. Candidates with existing Costco Pharmacy experience will be given priority, but anyone who meets the licensing and educational criteria is encouraged to apply.
