About the Role: Ramp Agent
The Ramp Agent is responsible for coordinating all operations related to aircraft loading and unloading at the Gloucester facility. You’ll provide guidance and support to cargo handlers while also being prepared to step in and perform duties related to courier, cargo handling, and dispatch when needed. Your ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure airport environment will be key to your success.
A significant part of this role involves mentorship and leadership. FedEx expects its Ramp Agents to model best practices, demonstrate strong communication and conflict resolution skills, and set the standard for professionalism and safety on the ramp. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining all required certifications and accreditations through ongoing training.

Responsibilities
The Ramp Agent role blends hands-on cargo operations with team leadership on the aircraft ramp. Every shift, you’ll be coordinating moving parts — literally — while keeping safety, accuracy, and efficiency front of mind. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
- Coordinate all aircraft loading and unloading operations to ensure safe and timely cargo handling
- Provide leadership to cargo handlers, offering mentorship and demonstrating best practices in daily operations
- Model professional behaviour including strong communication, conflict resolution, and operational integrity
- Perform duties as required for courier, cargo handler, and/or dispatcher roles when operationally necessary
- Prepare and process Canadian customs paperwork accurately and in compliance with regulations
- Maintain all required certifications and accreditations through yearly recurrency training (GSE permits, DG Specialist, W&B certification, etc.)
- Operate ground support equipment safely and in accordance with established FedEx procedures
- Lift packages up to 70 lbs and manoeuvre items weighing up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment
Requirements / Skills
FedEx is looking for someone who brings both aviation ground support experience and strong interpersonal skills to the table. This role demands someone who can lead by example, stay organized under pressure, and meet the regulatory requirements of a secure airport environment.
- High school diploma or educational equivalent required
- Six months of experience or training in jet aircraft ground support equipment or aircraft operations
- Valid Full G driver’s licence with a good driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
- RCMP security clearance — all candidates must be able to pass the R.C.M.P. assessment
- Basic MS Word and Excel proficiency; familiarity with FAMIS, COSMOS, and FedEx intranet systems is an asset
- Ability to prepare Canadian customs documentation and maintain ongoing training accreditations
- Excellent communication and human relations skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- EXCEL/LEAP candidates and those with knowledge of FedEx products, loading/unloading procedures are preferred
