About the Role: Postmaster
Reporting to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager, the Postmaster is responsible for the full administration of the local post office. This includes managing postal revenue and assets, ensuring retail hours of operation are met, overseeing mail delivery, and keeping accurate records and reports. You’ll be the go-to person for everything from supervising and training staff to liaising with the local community about Canada Post’s services.

Responsibilities
As Postmaster, your day-to-day work spans community engagement, staff supervision, and operational management. You’ll be responsible for keeping the post office running smoothly while maintaining a strong customer focus and upholding Canada Post’s commitment to service excellence.
- Liaise with the local community regarding Canada Post services and products
- Sell and promote postal products and services to both the public and local businesses
- Administer the post office to meet retail hours of operation and delivery expectations
- Manage postal revenue, assets, and values with accuracy and accountability
- Maintain records and prepare regular operational reports
- Supervise, train, and assess the performance of post office staff
- Assist with the effective management of mail delivery routes
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a blend of leadership experience, retail or customer service background, and the physical capacity to handle the demands of a working post office. - Education: High School Diploma or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration
- Leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to lead and direct teams effectively
- Customer service experience: Prior work in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions
- Postal knowledge: Familiarity with regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services
- Physical fitness: Ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
