About the Role: Post Office Assistant

This is a term, on-call position, so flexibility is key. You’ll need to be available on short notice and adapt to varying workloads. Physical fitness is also part of the job — you’ll be lifting mail containers of up to 50 lb, pushing and pulling boxes, and standing for extended periods throughout your shift. Responsibilities
Working at the front counter of a Canada Post location means you’re central to how the community sends and receives mail. Every day brings a mix of customer interactions, mail handling tasks, and administrative duties that keep the post office running efficiently.
- Sell postal products and services to members of the public and the local business community
- Sort and distribute mail into appropriate classifications accurately and efficiently

- Resolve delivery and service difficulties promptly and thoroughly with a customer-first mindset
- Handle cash transactions and assist with post office accounting tasks as required
- Lift and move mail containers weighing up to 50 lb and maintain physical stamina throughout the shift
Requirements / Skills

- High school diploma or provincial equivalency, and/or experience in business administration

- Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lb, push/pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
- Flexibility to be available for on-call and temporary work as needed
- Preference will be given to Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) or Persons with disabilities as part of Canada Post’s employment equity initiative
