About the Role: Postal Clerk – Retail and Operations

As a Postal Clerk at Canada Post in New Liskeard, you’ll split your time between retail customer service and mail operations. On the retail side, you’ll assist customers at the counter, process transactions — cash, cheques, debit, and credit — and maintain floor displays and inventory. On the operations side, you’ll receive, sort, and batch mail items, and may also operate mail processing equipment and transport mail between sections using rolling or motorized equipment.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, a Postal Clerk at Canada Post handles a broad mix of tasks spanning both customer-facing retail duties and back-end mail processing operations. The variety of work means no two shifts are identical, and your ability to switch between tasks efficiently is key to success in this role.

  • Receive, sort, sequence, and batch mail items as part of daily operations
  • Operate mail processing equipment including clearing jams and removing mail from sorting machines where applicable
  • Transport mail between floors or sections using rolling or motorized equipment where required
  • Key in data using a computer system and review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage
  • Handle physical demands including standing up to 3.5 hours, lifting items up to 22.7 kg, and carrying items up to 15.9 kg
