About the Role: Platform Architect, Integrations

The Platform Architect, Integrations is accountable for defining and governing the enterprise integration landscape at Canadian Tire. You’ll establish REST API standards, oversee the Azure API Management platform, and provide architectural leadership for complex, cross-domain integration scenarios. This is not a hands-off advisory position — you’ll be involved in design reviews, technical coaching, and ensuring that architectural guardrails are understood and followed across delivery teams.

Responsibilities

As a Platform Architect, Integrations, your day-to-day work spans architectural strategy, hands-on technical guidance, and cross-team collaboration. You’ll be the go-to authority on enterprise integration patterns, ensuring that systems are built for resilience, scalability, and long-term maintainability across the organization.

  • Own and evolve the enterprise integration architecture to support scalability, resilience, and loose coupling across distributed systems
  • Define and champion modern integration patterns with a strong focus on asynchronous, event-driven, and streaming architectures
  • Establish and govern the Azure API Management platform as a shared enterprise capability, including policies, products, traffic management, and analytics
  • Define enterprise REST API standards including resource modelling, HTTP semantics, versioning, and long-term compatibility strategies
  • Provide technical leadership for complex, cross-domain integration scenarios and mission-critical production flows
  • Partner with engineering teams through design reviews, coaching, and architectural guardrails to ensure production-ready, observable, and secure integrations
  • Shape microservices interaction patterns and determine when synchronous APIs versus asynchronous or event-driven integration is appropriate
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, application teams, platform teams, and security partners to align integration architecture with enterprise strategy

Requirements / Skills

This role is best suited for a seasoned integration architect who combines deep technical expertise with the communication skills to influence teams and stakeholders across a large organization.   • Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale integration solutions across distributed systems
  • Deep expertise in event-driven, asynchronous messaging, and streaming architecture patterns
  • Hands-on Java development experience building production-grade services
  • Practical Azure knowledge including AKS, Azure Service Bus, Azure AD, RBAC, APIM, and Azure security principles
  • 5+ years in a Senior Architectural role (preferred), with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka or Pulsar, and containerized/cloud-native workloads on Kubernetes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical and business concepts to diverse audiences
  • Agile delivery experience (2+ years, SAFe certification preferred) and a background in enterprise integration governance or platform operating models
