About the Role: Pharmacy Student
Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, the Pharmacy Student at Costco provides assistance across a wide range of pharmacy functions, including drug distribution, prescription labelling, compounding, and accurate data entry into the pharmacy software system. You’ll also play a key supporting role in Health Promotion Clinics and assist with the recruitment and delivery of medication review services.
Patient confidentiality and compliance with provincial regulations governing pharmacy students are central to this role. You’ll be expected to follow Costco Pharmacy’s policies and procedures at all times, maintain a clean and organised workspace, and know when to escalate concerns — such as potential drug interactions — to the supervising pharmacist.

Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco Mississauga, your daily responsibilities span both technical pharmacy tasks and direct patient interaction. Each duty is carried out under the guidance of a supervising pharmacist, ensuring you gain meaningful experience while maintaining the safety and trust of members.
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to product locations within the pharmacy
- Collect patient information and accurately input prescriptions into the pharmacy software system under pharmacist supervision
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labelling under the pharmacist’s supervision, following all safety and security procedures
- Alert the pharmacist when necessary, including in cases of potential drug interactions or patient concerns
- Assist patients at the counter, retrieve prescriptions, and process register transactions in a prompt and courteous manner
- Communicate with patients regarding OTC products and refer appropriately to the pharmacist when clinical questions arise
- Provide prescription counselling under the direction of the pharmacist, in accordance with your competency level and provincial regulations
- Identify and recruit patients eligible for the medication review program and assist in delivering those services
- Support Health Promotion Clinics by working with the pharmacist to recruit patients and implement clinic plans
- Stock drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise, and help keep the pharmacy clean and well organised
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program and is registered as a pharmacy student with the relevant provincial College.
