About the Role: Optical Student

As an Optical Student at Costco Mississauga, your primary focus is on delivering attentive member service in the optical department. You’ll assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options, ring up orders and over-the-counter merchandise, and handle payments accurately — including cash, cheques, credit, and debit — following proper cash handling procedures. Where permitted by provincial law and under the supervision of a licensed Optician, you’ll also fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and manual adjustments.

Beyond the optical counter, you’ll play an important role in keeping the department organized and well-stocked. This includes ordering merchandise and supplies through the computer system, following safety and security procedures, maintaining proper merchandising and product storage standards, and cleaning the department regularly. You may also be called upon to assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed, making flexibility and teamwork key to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Clean the department through spraying, wiping, mopping, emptying trash, and operating the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Follow safety and security procedures at all times
  • Support other warehouse areas as required

Requirements / Skills
