Food Service Assistant – Costco – Mississauga, ON

Costco’s Food Court in Mississauga, ON is looking for a Food Service Assistant to join the team at their 1570 Dundas Street East location. If you enjoy working in a fast-moving kitchen environment where no two shifts are exactly the same, this role offers hands-on food prep experience alongside solid hourly pay.

In this position, you’ll handle everything from preparing and serving hot food items to keeping the eating area clean and stocked. You’ll work directly with members, process transactions at the till, and keep the kitchen running smoothly from open to close.

About the Role: Food Service Assistant – Food Court

As a Food Service Assistant, your day revolves around preparing quality food for Costco members. You’ll be rolling and baking pizzas, steaming hot dogs, operating deep fryers, and assembling orders efficiently. You’ll also run the dessert and drinks station — dispensing frozen yogurt, lattes, smoothies, and more — while keeping equipment clean and properly serviced.

Beyond food prep, you’ll maintain the self-serve pop area, condiment table, and dining space, which includes bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, and taking out the trash. You’ll also pull stock from the warehouse, rotate ingredients properly, and ensure compliance with health codes and food safety standards at all times.

Responsibilities

Working in a Costco Food Court means staying active and focused throughout every shift. From prepping food to serving members to maintaining a clean and safe workspace, here’s what you can expect day to day:

• Prepare hot food items including rolling and baking pizzas, steaming hot dogs and buns, and operating deep fryers
• Serve customers by assembling and presenting orders promptly and courteously at the counter and by phone
• Process transactions by ringing up sales, collecting payment, and making change following cash handling procedures
• Operate the dessert and drinks station, dispensing frozen yogurt, lattes, and smoothies while cleaning and refilling machines
• Maintain the dining area by bussing tables, sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash receptacles
• Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, work surfaces, pans, utensils, and counters to meet health code standards
• Pull and stock supplies from the warehouse to shelves, cooler, and freezer; stage ingredients in the prep area
• Comply with food safety regulations including sanitation practices, proper temperatures, product rotation, and expiration date checks
• Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred, though not strictly required
• Food Safety Certification – Level 1 is required and must be completed by the first day in the position
• Ability to handle food prep tasks including operating kitchen equipment and following production standards
• Strong customer service skills with a prompt and courteous approach to member interactions
• Physical stamina to stand, move, and perform cleaning and stocking duties throughout the shift
