Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Clerk role involves a combination of direct patient service, prescription support, and department maintenance. Each day brings a range of tasks that keep the pharmacy operating efficiently while ensuring members receive prompt, accurate, and courteous care.
- Assist patients at the counter, receive written prescriptions for the pharmacist, and retrieve filled prescriptions
- Process register transactions including cash, cheques, credit, and debit payments
- Support the pharmacist in filling prescriptions — counting, pouring, labelling, and restocking under direct supervision and within provincial regulations
- Update patient profiles and enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system as permitted by provincial regulations, while preserving patient confidentiality
- Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using a computerized system
- Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise in accordance with the merchandising plan
- Create product signs and conduct over-the-counter roaming throughout the department
- Maintain department cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, wiping, and dusting; empty trash and operate the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed
