As a Certified Pharmacy Clerk at Costco Peterborough, you’ll work directly alongside the pharmacist to assist with prescription filling, patient transactions, and inventory management. You’ll be the first point of contact for members at the pharmacy counter, handling everything from retrieving filled prescriptions to processing payments and directing members to products throughout the department.

Responsibilities

The Certified Pharmacy Clerk role at Costco involves a broad mix of patient-facing service, pharmacist support, and back-end pharmacy operations. Each of these responsibilities plays a direct role in ensuring members receive accurate, timely, and professional pharmaceutical care.

• Assist patients at the pharmacy counter, retrieve filled prescriptions, and provide prompt, courteous service
• Process register transactions including cash, cheque, credit, and debit payments accurately
• Answer phones and direct members to product locations throughout the department
• Support prescription filling by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, restocking, labelling, and pricing under direct pharmacist supervision, as permitted by provincial regulations
• Enter prescription information and update patient profiles in the pharmacy computer system in accordance with provincial regulations
• Preserve patient confidentiality at all times
• Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using the computerized system
• Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter products following storage procedures and merchandising standards
• Maintain department cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, and emptying trash
• Assist in other warehouse areas as needed

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who bring both the proper credentials and a genuine commitment to member service and pharmacy accuracy. The ideal applicant will have a solid foundation in pharmacy operations and the interpersonal skills to make patients feel well cared for at the counter.

• Pharmacy Diploma from a Community College or Costco Pharmacy Clerk certification is required
• Provincial certification as required by the province (Ontario) where applicable
• Current pharmacy experience is preferred — candidates with hands-on experience will be given preference
• Computer skills for navigating pharmacy management and point-of-sale systems
• Math skills for accurate transaction processing and prescription counting
• Member service skills to deliver courteous, professional interactions with patients
