Pharmacist – Costco – Vaughan, ON

Costco’s pharmacy at 55 New Huntington Rd in Vaughan, Ontario is looking for a licensed Pharmacist to join their team. About the Role: Pharmacist

As a Pharmacist at Costco Vaughan, you’ll be responsible for delivering direct patient care with a strong emphasis on therapeutic appropriateness, patient safety, and expanded scope services. You’ll dispense prescription medications, manage drug therapy concerns, and support patients with both prescription and over-the-counter product guidance. The role also involves acting as Pharmacist-In-Charge when the pharmacy manager is absent, which means overseeing smooth dispensary operations and supervising pharmacy interns and students.

Responsibilities

Working as a Pharmacist at Costco Vaughan means taking ownership of both clinical and operational responsibilities within the pharmacy. From dispensing and verifying prescriptions to leading health clinics and mentoring students, your contributions directly impact patient care and safety every single shift.

• Dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels accurately and efficiently
• Review prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, including drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, dosage, and frequency
• Verify and clarify prescriptions with physicians by phone as needed, and accept verbal prescriptions
• Counsel patients on proper medication use and answer questions regarding over-the-counter products
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to identify and resolve drug therapy problems
• Conduct full medication reviews, best possible medication histories, and medication reconciliation
• Recruit and run health and wellness clinics and document interventions as permitted under provincial regulations
• Administer medications by injection where permitted by provincial regulations
• Order and communicate laboratory tests to the extent permitted by provincial regulations
• Act as Pharmacist-In-Charge during the pharmacy manager’s absence and supervise pharmacy interns and students
• Maintain professional competence through continuing education and keep all required certifications current
• Uphold patient confidentiality and participate in a culture of patient safety

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is a fully licensed pharmacist who is passionate about patient-centred care and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment. Costco values professionals who bring strong clinical knowledge alongside excellent communication and member service skills.

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
• Licensure: Must hold a valid Pharmacist licence in good standing in Ontario

• Math skills: Strong numeracy required for accurate dosage calculations and prescription verification
• Patient care skills: Ability to provide prompt, courteous, and clinically sound care to members
