About the Role: Pharmacist
As a Costco Pharmacist in Vancouver, you’ll be at the centre of patient care — dispensing prescriptions, verifying therapeutic appropriateness, and educating patients on proper medication use. You’ll also take on leadership responsibilities when acting as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of the pharmacy manager, supervising pharmacy interns and students to keep dispensary operations running smoothly.
A strong focus on patient safety is central to this role. You’ll be expected to follow all of Costco Pharmacy’s policies and procedures, maintain required certifications through continuing education, and actively participate in initiatives that reduce and eliminate prescription incidents. Teamwork with the Registered Technician and other health care professionals is essential to delivering the high standard of care Costco members expect.

Responsibilities
This role covers the full breadth of modern pharmacy practice. From routine dispensing to clinical interventions, you’ll be applying your expertise daily to improve patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of pharmaceutical care at Costco Vancouver.
- Dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels with accuracy
- Review prescriptions and OTC medications for therapeutic appropriateness, including drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, dosage, and frequency
- Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone, take verbal prescriptions, and select therapeutic substitutions when appropriate
- Oversee collection of patient medical history and maintain confidential patient records
- Collaborate with health care professionals to identify and resolve drug therapy problems and educate patients on proper medication usage
- Conduct health and wellness clinics, full medication reviews, best possible medication histories, and medication reconciliation
- Administer medications by injection and order laboratory tests as permitted by provincial regulations
- Adapt, extend, and modify prescriptions and perform specific acts under prescriber delegation as permitted
- Act as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of the pharmacy manager and supervise pharmacy interns and students
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and keep all certifications current
- Follow all Costco Pharmacy policies, safety and security procedures, and patient safety practices
