About the Role: Pharmacy Clerk Certified

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Clerk Certified role covers a wide range of tasks that keep the pharmacy department running efficiently. From direct patient interaction at the counter to back-end inventory management and insurance processing, every responsibility contributes to a safe and well-organized pharmacy.

  • Assist patients at the counter, receive written prescriptions for the Pharmacist, and retrieve filled prescriptions
  • Process register transactions, receive payment, make change, and handle cheques, credit, and debit charges
  • Answer phones and direct members to product locations with prompt and courteous service
  • Enter prescription information and update patient profiles in the pharmacy computer system, to the extent permitted by provincial regulations, while preserving patient confidentiality
  • Assist in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, restocking, labelling, and pricing under direct pharmacist supervision
  • Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using the computerized system
  • Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter products following storage procedures and merchandising plans
  • Maintain department cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, emptying trash, and operating the trash compactor and cardboard bailer

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who bring both the right credentials and a genuine commitment to patient service. Those with current pharmacy experience will be given preference, and strong computer and math skills will serve you well in this environment.
