About the Role: Package Handler / Non-Driver

As a Cargo Handler at FedEx Canada, your primary responsibility is ensuring freight moves safely and accurately through the facility. You’ll be loading and unloading packages, using scanning equipment to track shipments, and sorting freight according to destination and priority. The pace can be brisk, especially during peak periods, so stamina and focus are key to performing well in this role.

This position requires physical strength and coordination — you must be able to lift up to 70 lbs independently and manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment. Attention to safety protocols and compliance with FedEx Canada operations procedures is essential, as is the ability to complete all required training and recurrency certifications. A valid Class G driver’s licence is required for this role.

Responsibilities

Working in a fast-moving freight environment, Package Handlers at FedEx Thunder Bay are the backbone of daily operations. Each shift, you’ll be responsible for ensuring freight is handled accurately, safely, and efficiently so packages reach their destinations on time.

• Load and unload freight from trailers and vehicles at the facility
• Scan and track packages using FedEx scanning equipment to ensure accurate shipment records
• Sort freight by destination, service type, and priority within the warehouse
• Lift and manoeuvre packages up to 70 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with proper equipment
• Complete all required basic and recurrency training to maintain certifications
• Adhere to FedEx Canada operational procedures and Canadian Customs regulations
• Operate in a PC/Windows environment as needed for scanning and data entry tasks

Requirements / Skills
