About the Role: Package Handler / Non-Driver

As a Package Handler at FedEx’s Kirkland Lake location, your primary focus will be on keeping freight moving through the facility safely and accurately. You’ll be responsible for loading and unloading packages, running freight through scanning systems, and ensuring shipments are correctly sorted for their next destination. The work is physical — FedEx requires employees in this role to lift up to 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs with the help of appropriate equipment.

Responsibilities

In this role, your day will revolve around keeping freight flowing through the facility accurately and on schedule. Every task you perform — from scanning to sorting to loading — contributes directly to FedEx’s ability to deliver on its commitments to customers across Canada.

• Load and unload freight from trucks and within the facility according to FedEx procedures
• Scan packages to ensure accurate tracking and processing throughout the facility
• Sort freight correctly based on destination and routing information
• Lift and manoeuvre packages weighing up to 70 lbs independently, and up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment
• Complete all mandatory training including basic and recurrency training as required by FedEx
• Work varying shifts based on operational needs of the facility
• Operate in a PC Windows environment as required for scanning and tracking systems

Requirements / Skills

FedEx is looking for candidates who are physically capable, dependable, and ready to contribute to a team-oriented warehouse setting. The ideal person is someone who can follow procedures carefully, communicate well with colleagues, and keep up in a busy, high-volume environment.

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred for this role
• Knowledge of FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations is considered an asset
• Good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team environment
• Physical capability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with equipment
• Ability to complete all required training and maintain accreditations where applicable
• Comfortable working varying shifts based on business demand
