About the Role: Mobile Equipment Technician

As a Mobile Equipment Technician at Canadian Tire’s Bolton Distribution Centre, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a diverse fleet of manual, automated, and driverless material-handling equipment. Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment to identify defects, unsafe conditions, or abnormal wear, and complete repairs to restore safe operation
  • Service battery systems, charging equipment, charging distribution infrastructure, electric motors, and motor control systems
  • Verify sensor configuration and perform approved program uploads/downloads using OEM-provided interfaces, escalating issues to OEMs or specialists as required
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams during diagnostics, repairs, and system updates for automated and semi-autonomous equipment
  • Document all work in MAXIMO, including labour, parts used, and failure details, and communicate clearly during shift handovers
  • Respond promptly to mobile equipment breakdowns to support safe and continuous equipment availability

Provincial trade certification is required for this role.

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification: Powered Lift Truck Technician (282E) or Automotive Service Technician (310S) with relevant industrial experience
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial mobile equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and compliance with corporate, site, and legislative safety policies
  • Ability to work at heights up to approximately 45 feet using approved access equipment
  • Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and perform frequent moderate to heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Availability for night shift: 7pm–7am, Sunday through Tuesday, plus every third Saturday
  • Asset: Experience with automated or semi-automated material-handling equipment, industrial electronics, high-volume distribution environments, or CMMS systems (MAXIMO preferred)
