Canadian Tire’s Distribution Centre in Bolton, Ontario is looking for a skilled Mobile Equipment Technician to join their maintenance team. About the Role: Mobile Equipment Technician

As a Mobile Equipment Technician at Canadian Tire’s Bolton Distribution Centre, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a diverse fleet of manual, automated, and driverless material-handling equipment. Your day-to-day work will span mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems, using schematics, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer documentation to diagnose and resolve equipment faults. You’ll also support automated and semi-autonomous equipment within your licensed trade scope, working alongside vendors and internal teams during repairs and system updates.

Accuracy and accountability are central to this role. You’ll be expected to document all work in the CMMS (MAXIMO) system — capturing labour, parts, and failure details — and provide clear shift handover communication to ensure continuity across the operation. Working safely, responding promptly to breakdowns, and demonstrating flexibility when priorities shift are all part of how you’ll contribute to a well-run Distribution Centre.

Responsibilities

The Mobile Equipment Technician at Canadian Tire’s Bolton Distribution Centre plays a critical role in keeping a complex fleet of warehouse equipment safe and operational. From routine preventive maintenance to responding to unexpected breakdowns, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of technical tasks that directly support distribution operations. This is hands-on, independent work that requires both expertise and accountability.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on counterbalance, reach, turret, and tugger trucks; scissor lifts; boom lifts; and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems on mobile equipment
• Diagnose equipment faults using schematics, service manuals, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer documentation
• Inspect equipment to identify defects, unsafe conditions, or abnormal wear, and complete repairs to restore safe operation
• Service battery systems, charging equipment, charging distribution infrastructure, electric motors, and motor control systems
• Verify sensor configuration and perform approved program uploads/downloads using OEM-provided interfaces, escalating issues to OEMs or specialists as required
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams during diagnostics, repairs, and system updates for automated and semi-autonomous equipment
• Document all work in MAXIMO, including labour, parts used, and failure details, and communicate clearly during shift handovers
• Respond promptly to mobile equipment breakdowns to support safe and continuous equipment availability

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in industrial mobile equipment maintenance, along with a commitment to safety and accurate documentation. Canadian Tire is looking for someone who can work with minimal supervision, adapt to changing priorities, and bring genuine technical depth to a fleet that includes both conventional and automated material-handling equipment. Provincial trade certification is required for this role.

• Ontario Certificate of Qualification: Powered Lift Truck Technician (282E) or Automotive Service Technician (310S) with relevant industrial experience
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial mobile equipment
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and compliance with corporate, site, and legislative safety policies
• Ability to work at heights up to approximately 45 feet using approved access equipment
• Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and perform frequent moderate to heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling
• Availability for night shift: 7pm–7am, Sunday through Tuesday, plus every third Saturday
• Asset: Experience with automated or semi-automated material-handling equipment, industrial electronics, high-volume distribution environments, or CMMS systems (MAXIMO preferred)
