About the Role: Industrial Electrician

Working within Canadian Tire’s Distribution Centre, the Industrial Electrician is responsible for the reliability and uptime of all electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. You’ll perform preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns based on priority, troubleshoot using electrical schematics, PLC systems, and manufacturer specs, and document all work accurately in the Maximo computerized maintenance management system. You’ll also communicate proactively with shift coordinators and incoming trades to ensure seamless handoffs.

The hiring range for this Industrial Electrician position is $36 to $46.50 per hour, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and market factors. In addition to competitive pay, Canadian Tire offers comprehensive benefits and retirement programs, performance incentives, continuing education programs, career growth opportunities, and an employee product discount. Benefits-eligible employees also receive up to $5,000 per year in mental health benefits for themselves and their families. Responsibilities

Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a licensed Industrial Electrician with solid hands-on experience in an industrial environment. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, works well independently, communicates clearly, and takes genuine pride in doing the job right the first time.

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification – 442A Industrial Electrician (mandatory), or 309A Construction Electrician with relevant industrial experience
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, including diagnosing and repairing programmable controller systems
  • Experience with DC Controllers, AC drives, and photo electrics, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS); experience with Maximo is a strong asset
  • Ability to work at heights up to 75 feet and perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, heavy lifting, stooping, and crouching
  • Availability for 12-hour rotating shifts, including 1 weekend in 3, averaging 40 hours per week over a 3-week cycle
  • Experience with conveyors, sortation equipment, towlines, and cranes is considered an asset
  • Detailed PLC programming skills and a history of planning and executing work independently are also considered assets
