About the Role: Industrial Electrician

Working within Canadian Tire’s Distribution Centre, the Industrial Electrician is responsible for the reliability and uptime of all electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. You’ll perform preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns based on priority, troubleshoot using electrical schematics, PLC systems, and manufacturer specs, and document all work accurately in the Maximo computerized maintenance management system. You’ll also communicate proactively with shift coordinators and incoming trades to ensure seamless handoffs.

This role requires a high degree of independence and sound decision-making. You’ll be expected to make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency and reduce maintenance costs while adhering strictly to all safety policies and procedures. Benefits and Salary

The hiring range for this Industrial Electrician position is $36 to $46.50 per hour, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and market factors. Responsibilities

As an Industrial Electrician at Canadian Tire’s Bolton DC, your work will directly impact equipment uptime and overall operational efficiency. From routine preventative maintenance to high-priority breakdown repairs, every task you take on helps keep the facility running smoothly and safely.

• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment within the Distribution Centre to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, prioritizing repairs based on operational urgency
• Troubleshoot electrical systems using schematics, panel layouts, PLC diagnostics, and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain accurate records of parts used, logged hours, and detailed comments on failure causes and solutions in the Maximo CMMS
• Provide shift handoff information to coordinators and incoming trades to ensure continuity of repairs and work orders
• Make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance service levels
• Work safely and effectively, adhering to all safety policies and procedures at all times
• Demonstrate flexibility when tasks are reassigned or reprioritized based on operational needs

Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a licensed Industrial Electrician with solid hands-on experience in an industrial environment. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, works well independently, communicates clearly, and takes genuine pride in doing the job right the first time.

• Ontario Certificate of Qualification – 442A Industrial Electrician (mandatory), or 309A Construction Electrician with relevant industrial experience
• PLC troubleshooting experience, including diagnosing and repairing programmable controller systems
• Experience with DC Controllers, AC drives, and photo electrics, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS); experience with Maximo is a strong asset
• Ability to work at heights up to 75 feet and perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, heavy lifting, stooping, and crouching
• Availability for 12-hour rotating shifts, including 1 weekend in 3, averaging 40 hours per week over a 3-week cycle
• Experience with conveyors, sortation equipment, towlines, and cranes is considered an asset
• Detailed PLC programming skills and a history of planning and executing work independently are also considered assets
