Member Service Assistant – Costco – Dartmouth, NS

Costco’s Dartmouth location on Countryview Drive is looking for a Member Service Assistant to join their team. This front-line role puts you at the heart of the member experience — from the moment shoppers walk through the door to when they head home with their carts.

Day-to-day, you’ll be greeting members at the entrance, verifying membership cards, conducting warehouse safety and security checks, and assisting at the exit by reviewing receipts. The role also involves some after-hours responsibilities using your personal vehicle for perimeter security checks.

About the Role: Member Service Assistant

As a Member Service Assistant, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that keep the warehouse running safely and members feeling welcomed. You’ll conduct hourly safety and security inspections of the warehouse and surrounding areas, correct hazards like spills and blocked exits, and complete inspection forms for the duty manager. Member interaction is constant — welcoming guests, directing them to products and services, and ensuring their exit experience is smooth and efficient.

This role also involves security monitoring duties, including discretely observing armored vehicle pick-ups, checking bags at the exit, and conducting after-hours perimeter checks from your personal vehicle. Strong communication with the duty manager via two-way radio is part of the job, as is attending warehouse safety meetings and contributing to a safe shopping environment for everyone.

Responsibilities

The Member Service Assistant role at Costco covers a broad mix of member-facing and behind-the-scenes duties. Here’s a look at what the day-to-day work involves:

• Greet and verify members at the warehouse entrance, checking membership cards and offering carts as needed
• Conduct hourly warehouse safety and security inspections on foot, identifying and correcting hazards such as spills, trip hazards, and blocked exits
• Complete inspection forms and report results to the duty manager after each walkthrough
• Track member counts using a handheld counter, reporting half-hourly figures to the Front End and logging them on weekly reports
• Monitor warehouse access, including discretely observing armored transport pick-ups, jewelry and register drawer handling, and checking bags at the exit
• Check member receipts at the exit, comparing them against merchandise, marking receipts with a highlighter, and thanking members on their way out
• Assist members by directing them to products and services, helping with loading, and keeping the entrance and exit areas clean and organized
• Perform after-hours security checks by driving the warehouse perimeter in your personal vehicle, monitoring the exit door, and reporting any suspicious activity to the duty manager
• Plug in electric scooters as they return to the entrance area

Requirements / Skills

• Valid Driver’s Licence and personal vehicle — required for after-hours perimeter security checks
• High School Diploma or GED — preferred but not mandatory

• French language proficiency (oral and written) — required for candidates applying to Quebec locations
