About the Role: Manager, Risk & Insurance

This role is broad by design. You’ll be responsible for developing, administering, and continuously improving insurance and risk management programs across the enterprise. Day-to-day, you’ll conduct statistical analysis of loss data, identify trends for loss prevention, manage broker and carrier relationships, and provide expert consultation on third-party contracts. You’ll also lead due diligence reviews for acquisitions and new business initiatives — making this a role with real organizational impact.

On the claims side, you’ll oversee the full claims intake and handling process across all business units, managing litigation claims and large property losses. You’ll work closely with insurers, third-party adjusters, and defence counsel to protect CTC’s brand and ensure full legal compliance. Canadian Tire offers a broadband salary range of $79,000 to $131,000 CAD, with a typical hiring range between $105,000 and $115,000 CAD depending on experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Responsibilities

The Manager, Risk & Insurance at Canadian Tire wears many hats across operational risk management, claims handling, and annual policy renewals. This position requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, making it a genuinely varied role for an experienced risk professional.

  • Prepare reporting for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors on insurance program developments and claims activity
  • Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering a culture of professional development and accountability
  • Participate in the Product Compliance Committee to support key decisions related to product safety, quality, and liability

Requirements / Skills

  • University degree or College diploma in a business-related discipline
  • Canadian Risk Management (CRM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), or equivalent designation — or actively progressing toward completion
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate risk management and insurance function or related claims management background
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success managing, mentoring, and developing team members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Copilot, with willingness to build advanced skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to report to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders
  • French bilingualism would be considered an asset
