About the Role: Manager, Freight Audit

Day to day, you’ll own the entire freight audit process — from invoice validation and discrepancy management to payment processing and overcharge recovery across inbound and outbound transportation modes including TL, LTL, parcel, and intermodal. You’ll ensure all freight invoices are audited against contracted rates, accessorials, fuel surcharges, and service-level agreements, while maintaining strong financial controls aligned with SOX requirements and Canadian Tire’s internal financial policies.

Beyond audit mechanics, you’ll be a strategic partner — developing dashboards, KPIs, and reporting for senior leadership, leading process improvements and automation initiatives (including TMS and freight audit platforms), and managing relationships with external freight audit vendors and carriers. You’ll also lead, coach, and develop a team of freight audit professionals, setting clear expectations and building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

This role spans freight audit leadership, financial controls, data analytics, stakeholder management, and people leadership. Requirements / Skills

  • Strong knowledge of transportation rate structures, accessorials, and carrier contracts
