Manager, Commodity Tax – Canadian Tire – Mississauga, ON
Location: Mississauga, ON | Company: Canadian Tire
Canadian Tire Corporation is one of Canada’s most recognized retail enterprises, and they’re looking for a seasoned tax professional to join their finance leadership team in Mississauga, Ontario. The Manager, Commodity Tax role sits within the Enterprise tax function and offers a rare opportunity to lead indirect tax strategy across a complex, multi-subsidiary organization that touches retail, real estate, and financial services.
This isn’t a back-office compliance role — it’s a high-visibility position where you’ll serve as the go-to subject matter expert on sales tax, interact with multiple business units, and shape how CTC structures transactions and systems in response to an evolving global tax landscape.
About the Role: Manager, Commodity Tax
Reporting to the AVP, Commodity Tax, you’ll lead the oversight of federal and provincial commodity tax obligations for Canadian Tire Corporation and its subsidiaries. Your work will span tax planning, compliance, audit defence, and cross-functional advisory — all while keeping pace with legislative changes and the growing trend toward digitization of commodity tax. You’ll be expected to identify both risks and opportunities, then translate those findings into practical guidance for the business.
Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll work alongside internal business groups, external associations like the Retail Council of Canada and Canadian Bankers Association, government officials, Associate Dealers, vendors, and customers. You’ll also play an important part in developing your team — mentoring associates, encouraging cross-training, and building succession depth within the commodity tax function.
Benefits and Salary
Canadian Tire offers a broadband salary range of $81,000 to $131,000 for this role, with final compensation reflecting your experience, internal equity, and market benchmarks. Beyond salary, employees receive a comprehensive benefits and retirement program, performance incentives, continuing education support, mental health benefits of up to $5,000 per year, product discounts, Canadian Tire Profit Sharing, and access to career growth opportunities across the broader CTC family of companies.
