This is a technical role with real business impact, sitting at the intersection of supply chain operations, data engineering, and application development.

In this position, you’ll be embedded within the Decision Support team, developing and maintaining applications that power day-to-day decision making across Canadian Tire’s supply chain network. You’ll collaborate with IT professionals, business stakeholders, and management to deliver solutions that keep product flow running efficiently across the organization.

About the Role: Programming Analyst

The Programming Analyst at Canadian Tire’s OPC is responsible for the full lifecycle of application development — from understanding business needs and translating them into technical requirements, to building, documenting, and maintaining the solutions that support critical supply chain decisions. You’ll be working on both new development and the ongoing support of existing applications, including participation in a 24/7 paging rotation.

Beyond coding, this role calls for strong communication skills and business acumen. You’ll be expected to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization, facilitate conversations between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and stay current on evolving technologies including AI-enabled tools, Big Data platforms, and cloud data technologies. It’s a role for someone who is equally comfortable digging into a database query and presenting options to senior leadership.

Canadian Tire offers a broadband salary range of $53,000 to $88,000, with a typical hiring range between $53,000 and $80,000 depending on experience, industry benchmarks, and internal equity. Responsibilities

As a Programming Analyst at the OPC, your day-to-day work centres on keeping critical supply chain applications running smoothly and continuously improving them. You’ll serve as a bridge between technical development and business operations, ensuring that decision-makers have the tools and data they need when they need them.

• Develop, document, and maintain applications aligned with IT and industry coding and database standards
• Provide support and maintenance for existing applications, including documentation updates, code maintenance, and participation in the 24/7 paging rotation
• Support business decision making by generating ad-hoc reports, information, and databases as required
• Work with end users to understand, define, and document business and technical requirements, translating them into actionable solutions
• Present recommendations and clearly communicate the pros and cons of different technical alternatives to stakeholders
• Stay current on evolving coding languages, database software, and industry standards including AI-enabled technologies
• Build business knowledge of OPC processes and systems to deliver effective solutions across supply chain groups
• Collaborate with IT, management, and business stakeholders on the integration of Canadian Tire systems across CT Banners

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a solid technical foundation in application development and database engineering combined with a genuine interest in supply chain and retail business processes. • Post-secondary education in computer science, engineering, business, or logistics with technology-focused content
• 3 to 7 years of experience in the full lifecycle of application development, database design, and implementation
• Web development experience with ASP.NET (C# with AJAX toolkit extension)
• Database development skills in Oracle and MS-SQL Server, including SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, and MS T-SQL
• Experience with SSIS packages for data transfers and Microsoft Office tools including MS-Access and MS-Excel
• Knowledge of supply chain business processes and a solid understanding of retail principles
• Big Data platform experience (Hadoop, Hive, Azure/ADLS, GCP/BigQuery, Snowflake, NoSQL, etc.) considered a strong asset
• Microsoft Power Platform knowledge (Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot Studio) and AI/intelligent automation experience are assets
