Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of a Maintenance Technician III at FedEx is both varied and technically demanding. You’ll be at the front line of keeping material handling systems operational, responding to issues as they arise and conducting scheduled maintenance to prevent costly downtime. Here’s what the role looks like on a regular basis:

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on material handling systems with minimal supervision, demonstrating proficiency in mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical power transmission, electrical circuits, and PLC/controls failures at both the component and system level
  • Interpret schematics and manuals — including electrical and mechanical drawings, manufacturer documentation, and engineering specifications — to diagnose and repair faults
  • Respond to sort calls to identify problems quickly and execute repairs to minimize operational disruption
  • Utilize EAM software to enter and retrieve maintenance data in accordance with prescribed processes
  • Go online with PLC processors to aid in troubleshooting; burn EEPROMs and understand PLC networks such as ControlNet and DeviceNet
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks including MIG, stick, and TIG welding in all positions, and use tools such as a vertical mill and drill press
  • Develop scopes of work and project plans for small-scale, locally executed maintenance projects
  • Mentor and assist lower-level technicians as needed while working collaboratively with operations, vendors, and support teams
  • Adhere to all safety standards, attend safety meetings, and actively promote a safe work environment

Requirements / Skills
