Responsibilities

The Loss Prevention Clerk plays a vital role in keeping the warehouse safe and secure for both members and staff. Each day involves a combination of active patrolling, careful observation, and thorough documentation — all of which contribute to reducing shrink and deterring theft at the St. John’s location.

  • Patrol the warehouse floor and perimeter for up to 8 hours daily to monitor for safety and security concerns
  • Observe and apprehend shoplifters within the warehouse, detaining and interviewing suspects when appropriate
  • Report potential internal theft situations to the Warehouse Manager and Regional Loss Prevention Manager
  • Identify and report shrink reduction opportunities within warehouse operations to management
  • Prepare reports for internal use and for potential legal prosecution
  • Maintain evidence files and investigation records with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Testify in court regarding theft investigations when required
  • Coach and educate warehouse team members on loss prevention topics, policies, and procedures
  • Communicate with other Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and local businesses to stay informed on current theft threats
  • Attend relevant meetings and seminars to maintain up-to-date loss prevention knowledge
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed

Requirements / Skills
