Job Summary & Tips for Applying
Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent and Postal Clerk position at Canada Post in Dolbeau-Mistassini is a temporary, on-call role at $25.37/hour covering two distinct functions: outdoor route delivery by vehicle or on foot, and facility-based mail sorting across variable shifts. A candidate’s strongest assets are a valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean 3-year record and demonstrated physical capacity for repetitive lifting and carrying, since both are firm requirements the posting lists first.
Resume & Application Tips: Your driver’s abstract is required, so request it before applying and have it on hand. On your resume, spell out the class and province of your licence and note the years of clean driving history. If you have delivery or driving experience, describe the type of vehicle, the frequency of pickups and drop-offs, and the volume of items handled per shift. For any production or warehouse experience, note the physical demands and the shift variety, since the postal clerk function includes nights and weekends. A line such as “sorted and dispatched up to 300 parcels per shift in a warehouse environment” shows the kind of output that relates directly to these duties.
Interview Preparation: Be ready to describe a shift where you handled physically demanding work over several hours, particularly anything involving repetitive lifting in variable conditions. Since on-call availability including evenings and weekends is a firm requirement, have a clear answer about the days and hours you are genuinely available. The posting does not state a fixed number of hours per week for on-call work, so asking how often on-call workers are typically called in and what advance notice is given would be practical questions. French is listed as the essential language requirement, so confirm you are prepared to work in French if asked.
