About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

As a delivery agent with Canada Post in Sault Ste Marie, your day starts at the depot where you’ll sort and prepare mail and parcels for your assigned route. From there, you’ll load up a Canada Post postal vehicle and head out to deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle. The majority of your shift is spent outside, actively covering your route and ensuring timely, accurate delivery to residential and business customers.

Responsibilities

As a Letter Carrier, your day is structured around getting the right items to the right people on time. From depot prep in the morning to route deliveries throughout the day, each task plays an important role in keeping Canadian communities connected.

• Sort and prepare the day’s mail and parcels at the depot before heading out on your route
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and responsibly
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers along your assigned route
• Work outdoors for the majority of your shift in all types of weather conditions
• Return to the depot to unload incoming mail and packages for later delivery
• Represent Canada Post professionally as the face of the organization in your community

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for dependable, physically capable individuals who can commit to an on-call schedule and represent the organization with professionalism. If you have a clean driving record and enjoy working in an active, outdoor role, you’ll be well-positioned for this opportunity.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical fitness — ability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) throughout the day
• All-weather availability — must be comfortable working outdoors year-round regardless of conditions
• On-call availability — this is a temporary, on-call position requiring scheduling flexibility
• English language proficiency — ability to read, write, and speak English (French is an asset)
• Customer service experience is considered an asset
• Delivery or driving experience is an asset but not required
