About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

As a delivery agent with Canada Post, your day begins at the depot where you’ll sort and prepare the day’s deliveries before heading out on your assigned route. You’ll operate a Canada Post postal vehicle, making deliveries by foot and by vehicle to customers throughout Matane. At the end of your shift, you return to the depot to unload incoming mail and packages for processing.

Responsibilities

Working as a Letter Carrier with Canada Post means your day is structured but dynamic — starting indoors at the depot and moving to outdoor delivery work across your route. • Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot each morning
• Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and responsibly
• Deliver mail and packages by foot and by vehicle to customers on your assigned route
• Serve residential and business customers throughout the Matane community
• Return to the depot at the end of each shift to unload incoming mail and packages for later delivery
• Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions while maintaining efficiency and accuracy

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for candidates who are dependable, physically capable, and comfortable being on-call. A clean driving record and the ability to handle the physical demands of daily delivery work are essential to success in this role.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
• Physical ability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions throughout the year
• Availability to work on-call as required
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and/or French (English or French Essential)
• Customer service experience is considered an asset
• Previous delivery or driving experience is an asset
