About the Role: General Merchandise Department Manager

As Department Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in delivering a strong customer experience while managing the operational side of your section. You’ll also serve as a direct resource for customers — helping them find products, resolving concerns, and promoting services.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $19.35 per hour. Responsibilities

This role covers a broad range of operational and people-leadership duties across the general merchandise department. From managing day-to-day stocking and recovery to coaching associates and ensuring compliance with safety standards, you’ll be directly accountable for how your section looks, performs, and feels for customers.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers, assisting with product selection, helping locate merchandise, and resolving concerns professionally
  • Delegate and follow up on Customer Availability Process tasks including section work, capping bins, and stocking picks
  • Oversee price changes, feature sets, and modular execution to maintain merchandise accuracy and presentation standards
  • Assign sales floor coverage and provide support with recovery and zoning activities to keep the store customer-ready at all times
  • Manage associate scheduling and break coverage in line with operational requirements
  • Train, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to associates to support performance, development, and engagement
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment by following company policies, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring displays and fixtures are secure and debris-free
