About the Role: Food Service Assistant – Food Court
As a Food Service Assistant, your day-to-day will revolve around preparing and serving food and beverages to Costco members. You’ll handle everything from shaping and topping pizzas, operating deep fryers, and steaming hot dogs, to ringing through sales, making change, and assembling orders at the counter. You’ll also take phone orders for whole pizzas and ensure every member receives prompt and courteous service.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen is a core part of this role. You’ll be expected to follow health codes and sanitation standards, rotate products properly, monitor expiration dates, and ensure all work surfaces, machines, floors, and utensils are cleaned and sanitized regularly. You’ll also pull ingredients from the warehouse, stock shelves, coolers, and freezers, and keep the self-serve and eating areas tidy throughout the day.

Responsibilities
This role keeps the food court operating from open to close. You’ll move between food preparation, member service, and cleaning duties throughout your shift, making adaptability and attention to food safety standards essential every single day.
- Prepare hot food items including pizzas (rolling, shaping, adding toppings, baking, and slicing), hot dogs, and buns using warmers, steamers, and deep fryers
- Serve members by ringing up sales, collecting payment, making change, and assembling orders promptly and courteously
- Take whole pizza orders from members both at the counter and over the phone
- Dispense dessert and beverage items such as frozen yogurt, lattes, and smoothies; clean, sanitize, and refill dispensing machines regularly
- Maintain the eating area by bussing and sanitizing tables, sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash
- Follow all health codes including sanitation protocols, temperature monitoring, product rotation, and expiration date compliance
- Pull and stock ingredients from the warehouse to shelves, coolers, freezers, and preparation areas
- Operate the trash compactor and follow all safety and security procedures on the job
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for someone reliable and detail-oriented who can thrive in a high-volume food service environment. No prior experience is required — what matters most is a willingness to follow procedures, maintain cleanliness, and treat every member with respect.
- Food Safety Certification – Level 1 is required on your first day in the position
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred, though not mandatory
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards consistently throughout each shift
- Strong member service skills with the ability to handle transactions accurately and interact courteously
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift stock, and work in a fast-paced kitchen setting
