Responsibilities
Working as a Certified Pharmacy Clerk means balancing patient-facing duties with behind-the-scenes pharmacy operations. From greeting members to maintaining accurate records, every task contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services.
- Assist patients at the counter, receive written prescriptions for the Pharmacist, and retrieve filled prescriptions
- Process register transactions including receiving payment, making change, and handling cheques, credit, and debit charges
- Enter prescription information and update patient profiles in the pharmacy computer system, in accordance with Provincial regulations
- Support prescription filling by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, restocking, labelling, and pricing under direct Pharmacist supervision
- Prepare third-party insurance claims, process invoices, and make accounting entries using the computerized system
- Order, receive, tag, and stock prescription drugs and supplies, following proper product storage procedures
- Manage over-the-counter inventory in line with the department merchandising plan, including creating product signs and conducting roaming
- Maintain a clean department through sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, and emptying trash
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for candidates who bring both formal pharmacy training and a genuine commitment to member service. Preference will be given to those with current, hands-on pharmacy experience who can step into the role confidently from day one.
- Pharmacy Diploma from a Community College or Costco Pharmacy Clerk Certification is required
- Provincial certification as required by the province where applicable
- Current pharmacy experience is preferred and will be given priority during the selection process
- Computer skills to navigate pharmacy management systems and process transactions
- Math aptitude for accurate dispensing, inventory, and financial transactions
- Member service skills with a professional and courteous approach to patient interactions
- Bilingualism in French (oral and written) is required for positions at Quebec locations
