About the Role: Pharmacy Student
Day to day, you’ll be involved in a wide range of pharmacy operations. From inputting prescriptions into the pharmacy software system and filling orders under pharmacist supervision, to assisting patients at the counter and stocking merchandise — this role keeps you actively engaged throughout your shift. You’ll also play a key part in supporting Costco Pharmacy’s Health Promotion Clinics and helping identify patients eligible for medication review programs.

Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Student at Costco, your responsibilities span both the technical and patient-facing sides of pharmacy practice. Every task you take on is performed under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, giving you a well-rounded foundation in community pharmacy operations.
- Answer and triage member phone calls and direct members to product locations within the pharmacy
- Collect patient information and input prescriptions into the pharmacy software system accurately and efficiently under pharmacist supervision
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving stock bottles, counting medications, and labelling under the pharmacist’s supervision, following all safety and security procedures
- Alert the pharmacist when necessary, such as in cases of potential drug interactions or patient concerns
- Assist patients at the counter, retrieve prescriptions, and process register transactions while providing prompt and courteous service
- Communicate with patients regarding OTC products and refer to the pharmacist when appropriate
- Provide prescription counselling under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist, depending on competency level and provincial regulation
- Identify and recruit patients eligible for the medication review program and assist the pharmacist in performing those services
- Support Health Promotion Clinics by working with the pharmacist to develop and implement recruitment and operational plans
- Stock drugs, supplies, and OTC merchandise and help keep the pharmacy clean and well organized
