Responsibilities
Working as a Pharmacist at Costco Burnaby, your day-to-day will centre on providing safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. From clinical assessments to documentation, each responsibility plays a key role in maintaining the high standards Costco Pharmacy is known for.
- Dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels

- Verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone; take verbal prescriptions and select therapeutic substitutions when appropriate
- Oversee the collection of patient medical history and maintenance of confidential records
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug therapy problems
- Educate patients on proper medication usage and answer questions about over-the-counter products
- Recruit and conduct health and wellness clinics and document interventions where permitted by provincial regulations
- Adapt, extend, and modify prescriptions and perform specific acts under prescriber delegation as permitted by BC regulations
- Administer medications by injection where permitted by provincial regulations
- Conduct full medication reviews, including best possible medication histories, reconciliation, and medication therapy management
- Order and communicate laboratory tests to the extent permitted by provincial regulations
- Participate in a culture of patient safety by reducing and eliminating prescription incidents and reporting those that occur
- Act as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of the pharmacy manager and supervise pharmacy interns and students
